Flash Back Friday

My beautiful mother when she was in High School
My handsome dad when he was in High School
My mom when she was around 8th or 9th grade
This one was taken in front of my nana's house - I seem too focused on that cat to care :)
My first pair of pants that had pockets in them!
My dad when he was playing football at Auburn
Paige, dad, Scott and I all painted up to look like clowns --- kinda creepy!

Happy Friday!!!

Oh How Adorable...

When we first brought Teddy Bear home from the Humane Society, his crate was his safe haven whenever he got scared or unsure of a situation.

Case in point:

Over the past year that we've had him, he's gotten quite a bit better - it used to be that every single time someone would come over he'd run away barking like crazy and head straight for the crate.  Now, he still runs away barking but instead of heading for the crate he just jumps on our bed --- unless he gets really nervous or scared.

For Example: The other day Paul and I were scared to death looking for Teddy - we couldn't find him anywhere.  We knew that we hadn't left the front door open and we couldn't think of any reason for him to be scared (i.e. no one strange was over at the house, there was no thunder or lightning, the upstairs neighbor wasn't being too loud) so we were in a panic.  Where could our sweet Teddy Bear be???

I was in my closet checking in all of the little cubby holes when I heard Paul yell "you have got to see this" so I ran to the guest bathroom and this is what I found:

Teddy Bear had found a new hiding place for when he gets scared - bless his heart.  Does it get any more adorable than that???

We were so excited that we found him, but we still had no idea why he was so scared (he was shaking like crazy).  Paul pulled him out from his new hiding place and we carried him back into the kitchen and that was when we figured out what was going on.  As we neared the dishwashing machine (which was running) he started to wriggle out of Paul's arms --- AHA!!!  Teddy doesn't like the dishwasher!!!  In our old place we had to wash all of our dishes by hand so we figure he just had no idea what this loud thing was.

I swear, we'll do anything for that dog.  Ever since we discovered his new fear of the dishwasher we've been washing all of our dishes by hand.

Easter Weekend!!!

This past weekend, for Easter, Paul's mom and dad came to visit us and as always we had an amazing time.  We ate lots of good food, walked around Fernandina Beach like tourists, spent lots of time on the beach and caught up on the big events going on in our lives.

Here's are some pictures we got while they were visiting:

We had such a great weekend - the only problem was that it wasn't long enough (they never are) and my parents weren't there with us to enjoy the Holiday weekend.

Mom & Dad, we really missed you!

What Was I Thinking...

Over this weekend I was looking back at some old picture books that I found at my nana's house when we were cleaning it out over the Christmas Holiday.  While I was flipping through the old photos of myself I couldn't help but say (numerous times) what the heck was I thinking.  How the heck did I make it through my early childhood, and even through high school, without being the laughing stock of Gulf Breeze?  Some of my fashion choices I made were simply unbearable.  Take a look for yourself:

What the heck is up with that hairdo???  Not to mention those sunflower pillows!
I think this one is to blame on a sleepover with my friends - that makes it a little easier to take.

This is a picture of Paige, Mom, Me & Scott in Ponte Vedra way back when- pretty funny because it's so close to where Paul and I live now.  Please check out my bangs and scrunchy - eek!
In this one I actually like what Paige and I are wearing, it's more the fact that we're smiling while touching an animal that we had just watched our dad kill - Oh, to be a Redneck (hee, hee)

This one was taken at Disney World, and although you can't see my full outfit you can just look at Paige because we were dressed exactly alike.  What's up with those socks???

I'm not so sure my style has improved all that much --- I like to think it has :)

It's Official, I'm in my early 30's!!!

Okay, so I'm only 31 but you can still qualify that as me being in my early 30's, and I would have to say that each birthday gets better and better.  But, before I talk about my birthday I got some great pictures from my most recent work travels and I just had to share.

As I've mentioned in previous entries, I hardly ever get a chance to enjoy the cities that I visit while traveling for my job because I'm working from the time I arrive to the moment that I'm pulling away.  My trip this past week was no different than any other so I didn't get to partake in any kind of fun stuff but it was a really beautiful location - which is always nice.  I traveled down to Coral Gables (just outside of Miami) and I stayed at the Biltmore Hotel which was one of the most amazing properties I've ever seen, so I just had to take some pictures.

The Biltmore has such an old world charm - it's almost as if you're living in another time.  Not to mention the weather while I was down there was absolutely perfect.  Although most of my time was spent at my computer in my room it was still a special treat to stay at such a fabulous location.

Now, on to the good stuff, My Birthday!!!  If you don't know me then you wouldn't know that when my birthday comes around I don't just celebrate on my actual birthday, it's actually a celebration for the whole month of April.  Okay, so maybe not the whole month, but at least a few days before my birthday and a few days after.  I like to make the most of the date of my birth :)

I decided to take the day off from work so that Paul and I would have an extra day to spend together and we had such a wonderful long weekend.  The quality time was much needed because of my crazy travel schedule lately.  It started on Thursday night with dinner out for some fresh seafood and after dinner Paul let me open part of my birthday present early - it was a soft surf board so that he can finally teach me to surf this summer once the water warms up a bit.  I love how passionate he is about surfing so I'm excited for him to give me a few lessons.  You never know, I could be the next Layne Beachley (she's a famous female surfer and I only know that thanks to a Google search).

On Friday we woke up and after a workout and a couple of hours relaxing on the beach we headed to Caps On the Water for a light lunch with great views of the Intracoastal Waterway down in Vilano Beach.  After lunch we headed to St Augustine for the afternoon to do a little touristy shopping and sight seeing.  Here are a couple of photos we got while out and about:

After St Augustine we headed back to Jacksonville and had a romantic dinner at the house - Teddy Bear wanted to help celebrate my birthday too!!!

Saturday night our friends planned a special dinner/night out to celebrate my birthday as well as our friend Drew's birthday - he was sick last weekend for his actual birthday so it was perfect timing.  Here are some fun photos we got while out to dinner:

As you can see from the photos the restaurant makes you wear a sombrero on your birthday so Drew and I
sported them for most of the evening.

What an awesome birthday!!!
