We Have A Name

Paul and I have known for a while that we wanted Baby Gerrety's first name to be Lula but we were having the hardest time coming up with a middle name.

We decided on the name Lula while my mom was working on ancestry.com while my parents were in town for a visit.  It's actually my great great great grandmother's name on my dad's side - which makes really special.  As soon as we heard it we just knew that this amazing little baby had to be Lula, but the middle name was a lot more tricky than we were expecting.  We wanted something that was original but not too crazy and we wanted it to flow well with Lula - - - so after many hours of throwing around names, asking family what they thought, waking up in the middle of the night with another new name, scanning the baby name books, we finally came up with the perfect name: Lula Emile Gerrety, we do realize that her initials will be LEG but the doctor told us that at a mere 25 weeks she already has really long and skinny legs so we think it fits perfectly :)

We're so excited to meet our sweet, dancing machine of a baby, Lula Emile Gerrety!!!

Nursery Update

This past weekend my family came to town to help work on the nursery as well as a few other things that needed to be done around the house.  Paul has had to work like crazy since our vacation so it was perfect timing since my nesting is starting to kick in full force and as much as Paul has wanted to help he just can't fit it all in.  Here we are in action:

The room will be an owl theme with lots of pinks and blues (if you can't tell from the pics).  There's still quite a bit of work to be done to Lula's nursery but it's definitely much closer to being complete thanks to my amazing family!

Pregnancy Update

Paul and I have been really horrible about taking monthly pictures of my ever growing baby belly.  I had the best intentions when we first got pregnant thinking that I would take a picture the same time every month to keep as a memory of our precious baby girl growing in my belly.  Well, I haven't taken a picture since the first month we knew we were pregnant and now that I'm in my 6th month it's pretty silly to start now.  To go even further, I've been terrible at taking any kind of pictures at all while I've been pregnant - which is pretty bad for someone who is known for taking way too many pictures.  I've forgotten my camera at birthday parties, cookouts, most of our vacation, a family reunion, 4th of July, and the list goes on and on.

I'm making a promise to myself that I will do a better job of capturing our special moments on film so that I don't miss out on looking back at all of the great things that have happened while I was pregnant.

Here's one of the only pictures I have so far of myself with my baby belly:
This was taken about 2 weeks ago and it doesn't really show my belly in all it's 6 month pregnant glory - when I look in the mirror it definitely looks 10 times bigger than that.  I also look really exhausted which I can thankfully blame on pregnancy :)

Anywho, Happy Wednesday!!!

Baby G Update

Life has been ever so busy these past few months in the Gerrety family, not to mention my first trimester of pregnancy was anything but pleasant - between the constant nausea and headaches, I was beginning to believe I just wasn't cut out for pregnancy.  Thank the Lord that within the past few weeks I've been feeling much more like myself and I am happy to say that I'm actually going days at a time without having to rely on "Preggy Pops", ginger ale, peppermints, carbs and tylenol - Praise Jesus!!!

In other big baby news, we found out this past Thursday that Baby G. is a GIRL!  I must admit that I thought, without a shadow of a doubt, that we were having a boy (no reason other than a feeling) so I was quite surprised when the practitioner told us that the baby was 100% a girl.  Paul and I couldn't be more excited that this little baby is a girl, and finding out just makes this pregnancy feel that much more real.

Anywho, that's all for now.  Happy Monday!

It's Been Forever

I can't believe it's been so long since I last updated this blog - it just goes to show how fast time flies when you're staying busy (and having fun).

I won't make this entry too long since there is just way too much to update and only one truly important thing to talk about - which can be fully explained in a picture:
Sorry for the sideways shot :)

That's right, Paul and I are officially going to be parents - WOOHOO!!!  We just had our 13 week appointment and are safely into the second trimester so all is clear to start telling people and sharing our excitement.  I'll have to update more on Baby G a bit later but for now I just want to thank the few people that already knew for the many thoughts and prayers over the past couple of months.

Happy Tuesday!

Life in the Gerrety Family

I can't believe how fast time has been flying by.  We've been traveling a lot, entertaining family and friends at our new house, celebrating birthday's, spending a romantic Valentine's Day together, and most importantly meeting our new niece and spending time with our nephew.
I seriously can't believe that it's almost March!  I wish I could say that things were going to start slowing down a bit, but I'm just about to start my super busy travel season with work so there's no hope for much down time for me in the coming months.  Paul is still busy with work but his plan is to finish up some stuff around the new house while I'm away.  Hopefully I'll be able to post some pictures once things are more in order - the key word in that sentence is hopefully :)
Anywho, here's a little something to put a smile on your face on this fine Tuesday afternoon:
I love that Dog :)

Teddy Buttons

How could you not fall in love with this sweet, adorable, loving Teddy Bear Gerrety?

Paul and I just can't resist spoiling our sweet dog, that we've so lovingly (and appropriately) named Teddy Bear.  But, as you may tell by the title of this entry we also (on occasion) call him Teddy Buttons.  This past weekend was one of those occasions:

A few months ago Paul put on one of his work shirts that he laid out on the bed and found that one of the buttons was missing.  He didn't really think too much of it until it happened 2 more times within a couple of weeks.  At first we thought that the washing machine was eating the buttons, but then we caught Teddy Bear red handed chowing down on one of his shirt sleeves.

Since then we've learned that we can't leave anything out that has buttons on it or Teddy Bear will inevitably find the buttons and figure out a way to remove them.  We're usually pretty good at remembering but Paul had a super busy week last week and on Friday night he got home and immediately got out of his work clothes - leaving his jacket on the bed.  The above pictures show actual proof of the havoc our sweet Teddy Buttons wreaks on anything with buttons, especially an expensive suit.  At least he has really good taste :)
